Activities beyond Moss Lake

If you would like to look beyond Moss Lake for something to do, the city of Gainesville has lots to offer. A charming downtown area, a train depot and an outlet mall just to name a few things. There's even a train station and airport!

Downtown Gainesville

Exit California Street head east on you'll be there in no time –​

This community boasts a historical downtown and quaint residential areas. Local attractions include the Morton Museum, Santa Fe Train Depot Museum, Frank Buck Zoo, State Theater and Camp Howze, which give visitors a sense of Gainesville’s unique history. You'll also find First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts, home of many plays, fine art lectures and music concerts featuring local musicians. Depot Days

Gainesville's Depot Day Festival

 

Held annually on the second weekend in October in and around the downtown courthouse square.  Varied in its attractions and appeal, Depot Day marks the importance of railroad history to Gainesville and celebrates fun for the family and enthusiasts of many walks. The festival includes a full day of live music & entertainment, an antique and classic car show, food of every flavor, craft vendors, education & health screenings, and the Kids Zone. Events may vary from year to year.
